A wall mounted smart thermostat, with a simple touchable interface. 

The companion app that allows remote control, and encourages eco-friendly energy consumption behaviors.

RESEARCH AND INSIGHTS

We reached out to six people living in apartment complex for user interviews. From research, we knew that people tends to minimize their interactions with thermostat.

People only adjust temperature when there is extreme temperature uncomfortableness.

Most cannot accurately relate temperature to their preferred thermal comfortableness. 

Being able to remotely control the thermostat is preferred by most users.

Energy consumption is presented as green leaves, with a warning light at back when temperature is adjusted to a non eco-friendly degree.

ETHO THERMOSTAT RE-DESIGN

Etho is a wall-mounted thermostat that can be remotely controlled from the mobile device end.

Pre-set temperature on ETHO before going to bed.  No more midnight wakeup in hot/cold room.

Make Electricity Usage Transparent

 

Monthly report allows users to know about their power usage trend and highlight it when the usage is within an eco-friendly scale.
